Townhouse development, Ipswich
Donnelly Watson laid the flooring for a collection of new townhouses and apartments in Ipswich, just down the road from our showroom.
We have plenty of experience working with new-build properties at Donnelly Watson, and it was nice to lend a hand to a local development in July 2019.
Lanswood, a residential and commercial property developer based in Colchester, required our services for its new Belgrove Place development at Ribbans Park in Ipswich. The client contacted us after spotting our showroom, which is located very close to the new development and receiving recommendations via word of mouth.
We were briefed to lay flooring in ten townhouses, four apartments and communal stairways across the development – a listed, Victorian-style building that formerly served as St Clement’s Hospital, a mental health facility run by the NHS.
The client has retained many of the original features of the building, including high ceilings and radiators, giving the new homes a traditional feel. This mix of tradition and luxury carried through to the client’s flooring choices – Mr Tomkinson Twist carpet and LG Hausys Decotile luxury vinyl tiles (LVT).
When laying the LVT flooring, we made sure to use high temperature glue in areas of high sunlight to prevent any movement. With a number of other tradesmen on site, our team of four fitters also tried to work at times when the properties were a little quieter.
