Hard-wearing & Hassle-free

Real wood and stone floors can be costly to purchase and hard to install as well as high maintenance and cold underfoot. With Karndean, each luxury vinyl tile boasts a PV coating that makes it not only waterproof but also more hygienic than using natural materials, as well as being more hard-wearing, low maintenance, and easy to clean, while retaining the nature-inspired realistic colours and textures of wood and stone.

Each range also features the company's own Karndean Looselay quick-fit flooring system, meaning you enjoy a hassle-free installation process whichever design you choose.

Does Karndean fade?

As with any other type of flooring, Karndean tiles and planks can incur slight fading if frequently exposed to direct sunlight.

Does Karndean flooring scratch?

Karndean floors are specifically designed to stand up to wear and tear – including scratches. All Karndean floors come with a coating and surface protection system that helps them to be as scratch-resistant as possible. Even if your floor does become scuffed or scratched, marks are easily fixed with Karndean’s Care Kit. The care kit includes both Karndean Remove and Karndean Refresh – two cleaning products that are designed to get your LVT looking like new.

How long does Karndean flooring last?

One of the main benefits of Karndean LVT is that it is incredibly long-lasting. It is water-proof, scratch-resistant, and durable – ideal for high traffic areas and busy homes. All Karndean floors come with a 35-year lifetime quality guarantee. This guarantee is even transferable so it can be passed on should you decide to sell your home.

Is Karndean better than laminate?

Choosing between LVT and laminate depends on your needs. Karndean’s LVT is hard-wearing, durable, flexible, versatile, and waterproof. Laminate is just as durable and can be more affordable than LVT, but is less well-suited to areas of high moisture. We would recommend Karndean for high-moisture areas – it’s fantastic for kitchens and bathrooms.

Is Karndean good for kitchens?

Karndean is perfect for kitchens because of its PV coating, which makes it both waterproof and hygienic. It’s non-porous, unlike raw materials, so won’t hold on to any liquids or dropped foodstuffs. Both Karndea’s tiles and planks are wipeable and moppable – great for dealing with any kitchen spills. Karndean LVT is also specifically designed not to allow any spillages to seep through tile edges or custom cuts.

Is Karndean flooring safe?

Karndean flooring is both safe and environmentally-friendly. All products are certified by Global Greentag to ensure they meet environmental air quality standards. Karndean floors do not emit toxic gases and have been certified safe for use in schools. They are also slip-resistant and hygienic, making them great for a family environment.

Is Karndean suitable for bathrooms?

Karndean is perfect for bathrooms because it is fully waterproof, stain-resistant, and hygienic. It will not retain moisture nor allow water to seep between tiles. Karndean flooring is also designed to be slip-resistant, making it a safe option for bathroom flooring – especially in family homes.

Can you polish Karndean flooring?

Karndean floors do not require polishing. Instead, Karndean recommends using its own Karndean Clean and Karndean Refresh products to clean and restore your LVT flooring.

Can you use a steam mop on Karndean?

Steam mops are not recommended for use with Karndean flooring as they can damage your floor and make your luxury vinyl tiles lift. Instead, Karndean supplies its own cleaning and maintenance system that has been designed for use with LVT. Karndean Clean is more effective at cleansing your LVT floor than a steam mop, as it has been formulated especially for luxury vinyl tiles and will not cause any damage.

How do you shine Karndean flooring?

It is not recommended to use general polishing products with Karndean flooring. Instead, you can shine your Karndean floor using Karndean Clean solution. Complete with Karndean Refresh to add a protective satin finish. Is all Karndean flooring waterproof?

Unlike porous natural materials or ceramic tiles, Karndean is impervious to water. It is non-porous and will not retain any moisture or allow any moisture to penetrate your floor. It’s additional PV coating and vinyl backing make Karndean floors completely waterproof and great for use in high-moisture areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and porches.

Is Karndean flooring durable?

Karndean flooring has been tested for abrasion and wear compliance and has the highest industry wear rating possible. Its unique surface protection system makes it ultra-durable and perfect for high-traffic areas in your home. It also remains durable even in wet conditions as it is non-porous and completely waterproof.

Is Karndean flooring vinyl?

Karndean supplies Luxury Vinyl Tiling; realistic, high-quality vinyl tiles that are almost indistinguishable from raw materials like stone and wood. They also supply borders, feature strips, and key squares so you can create a completely customised, unique LVT floor that is designed specifically for your home. Ranges include Michelangelo – Meditteranean-inspired mosaics and pebble tiles, Art Select – hard-wearing planks and parquet tiles for busy homes, Knight Tile – nature-inspired wood and stone-look finishes, and Opus – contemporary colours and designs for the modern household.

Is Karndean good for underfloor heating?

Karndean flooring is compatible with most types of underfloor heating throughout your home. It may require additional insulation to ensure surface temperatures are kept at safe levels. It’s always best to talk to your Karndean installer about underfloor heating first, to make sure the correct insulation, sub floor, and adhesives are used.
